Schoolies floating off Victoria rescued

Four schoolies riding inflatable creatures have drifted hundreds of metres from a Victorian beach into shark-infested waters before being rescued by a fisherman

A Victorian fisherman on the search for squid has landed a haul of two flamingos, one unicorn, a dinosaur and four grateful schoolies.

The school leavers were aboard four large inflatable creatures and drifting "helplessly" into a strong current in shark-infested waters off Phillip Island when fisherman Alex King spotted them and came to their rescue.

"Be safe on the water. No matter the vessel you are in," he posted to Facebook on Tuesday afternoon.
