Michael Schumacher's first grand prix win 25 years ago was commemorated Sunday by his son Mick.

The 18-year-old drove a demonstration lap at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in his father's old car.

Mick Schumacher, who races in the Formula 3 European Championship, drove a 1994 model of the Benetton B194 that his father drove to the first of his record seven world championships.

"It was awesome," Mick said.

"To be able to drive the F1 car is amazing and I'm really honoured."

Michael Schumacher won six times at Spa-Francorchamps, more than any other driver, and also clinched his seventh and last world title at the track in the Ardennes.

Ross Brawn, the F1 managing director of motorsports, who was technical director on the Benetton team when Schumacher won in 1992, said: "You can't come to Spa without thinking about Michael. It was his circuit."

Schumacher won a record 91 grand prix races. His record of 68 pole positions was equalled by Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton on Saturday.

"It was just great," Mick Schumacher told the BBC Sport of his drive in the Benetton car.

"It was a pleasure for me to drive and it was emotional and fun and amazing.

"There is a lot of history with it and I'm really happy I was able to drive it."

Schumacher, 48, is continuing his rehabilitation at his home in Switzerland from a traumatic brain injury, suffered skiing in December 2013.

His family have given no updates on his condition.
