Scorchers lose Cummins for BBL

Left-arm paceman Ryan Duffield has been drafted into the Scorchers' T20 squad after Pat Cummins was ruled out with a back injury.

The Perth Scorchers have suffered a big blow on the eve of the Twenty20 Big Bash, with star paceman Pat Cummins probably ruled out for the entire tournament.

Cummins is still on the comeback trail from a back injury, and will be replaced in the side by left-arm paceman Ryan Duffield.

Should Cummins be fit to play later in the tournament, the Scorchers are allowed to draft him back into the team.

Duffield has only played one match for the Scorchers, snaring 1-17 off three overs during their T20 Champions League clash with the Auckland Aces earlier this year.

He also took 2-96 in the WA Chairman's XI Tour Match against England in the lead-up to the Ashes, dismissing Gary Ballance and Matt Prior.

In two Sheffield Shield games for the Warriors this season, Duffield has taken seven wickets at an average of 27.6.

The Scorchers have finished runners-up during the past two Big Bash tournaments.
