Hooker Kevin Bryce has replaced Stuart McInally in Scotland's World Cup squad after the loose forward failed to recover from a neck injury.
Bryce, who played for Glasgow Warriors against Irish side Connacht on Friday, was called up on Monday by coach Vern Cotter.
The 27-year-old Bryce, who has only two caps for Scotland, is now in contention to feature in Scotland's opening Pool B match against Japan in Gloucester on Sept. 23.
He says "I can get excited now. It's my first World Cup so I will see what comes my way."
Cotter underlined Bryce's aggression and versatility as his strong points, saying "our hookers can play loose-forward and Kevin as an ex-loose-forward ticks the boxes, he can cover two positions," adding that the 27-year-old is "a very good ball carrier."
