Scots rotate for Boks, drop captain Brown

Scrumhalf Greig Laidlaw will lead Scotland when the take on the Springboks on Sunday with six changes from the team which beat Japan 42-17 last weekend.

Captain Kelly Brown has been dropped from the Scotland team to play South Africa at Murrayfield as part of a rotation policy.

British Lions lock Richie Gray was restored as a starter, and could be joined by his uncapped teenage brother Jonny, who was in the reserves.

Alasdair Dickinson and Moray Low, making his first start since a 2011 World Cup warmup, are the new props, John Barclay was at openside flanker, and Duncan Taylor has replaced injured midfielder Matt Scott for his first start. Scott broke his hand.

Dickinson was in for tighthead Euan Murray, who was not available for Sunday games for religious reasons. Richie Gray stepped in for Tim Swinson, the man of the match against Japan but who hurt his shoulder.

The reserves were boosted by backs Max Evans and Chris Cusiter, who last appeared against Samoa 18 months ago.

Along with Brown, also dropped were lock Alastair Kellock, who was concussed, backup hooker Pat MacArthur and and reserve scrumhalf Henry Pyrgos.
