Adam Scott is looking to this week's World Golf Championship event in Mexico with renewed confidence after making solid improvements with his swing during a lacklustre Honda Classic title defence in Florida.
The Australian world No.7 finished with a respectable final round of two-under-par 68 at the US PGA Tour's West Palm Beach tournament, but his four-under total never threatened as American Rickie Fowler romped to a four-shot victory on Sunday.
In his fourth Tour win, Fowler (71) finished at 12-under with fellow Americans Morgan Hoffmann (68) and Gary Woodland (69) runners-up at eight-under.
Scott's second US tournament in 2017 was hindered by a head cold and jetlag, which the 36-year-old said limited his preparation.
"It's been tough I haven't been able to practise and prepare the way I wanted because I've been sick all week," said Scott.

Scott, who ranked near the bottom of the field in both driving accuracy (60th) and in proximity to the hole on approach shots (45th), feels he's resolved technical issues with his swing.
"Yeah, (the swing) felt better today. I got myself in better form and I feel like I've got something to work with in Mexico that's repeatable," said Scott.
"I need that; I've stalled for two weeks. I've played okay but haven't really contended and that's boring for me.
"With my short game being solid I think I can contend (in Mexico)."
Marc Leishman was next best of the Australians, struggling to a 73 and finishing tied 27th at two-under.
Greg Chalmers (71) rounded out the Australian contingent at three-over in a share of 57th.
Scott will also be the defending champion in Mexico City, lining up against each of the world's top-50 golfers except compatriot Jason Day, who withdrew on Monday citing illness.
