Adam Scott is aiming to go one better than last year when he starts his US PGA Tour season at the $US7 million CIMB Classic in Kuala Lumpur.

World No.6 Scott is among 10 of the world's top 30 players in the 78-man field at TPC Kuala Lumpur, where he finished one shot behind winner Justin Thomas 12 months ago despite shooting 25-under with scores of 68 66 66 63.

The Australian is coming off a rare missed cut, having struggled with scores of 76 and 74 at the Japan Open last week - the first time he has missed weekend play in over a year.

Other leading players in the TPC, starting on Thursday, include American stars Patrick Reed and two-time CIMB Classic winner Ryan Moore, Englishman Paul Casey, Spaniards Sergio Garcia and Rafa Canbrera-Bello and Australians Aaron Baddeley, Marc Leishman, Scott Hend and John Senden.
