Chris Scott is set to add another two years to his stay as Geelong coach.

In his fourth season at the AFL club since winning the 2011 premiership in his maiden year, Scott revealed on Tuesday morning he expected to sign on soon.

"I'm really committed to Geelong long-term, and every indication I get from the powers that be here is that the feeling's mutual," he said.

"I was never really too worried about the specifics of (the contract)... but I think the club is happy and I'm certainly very happy with the situation and hope I'm here for a very long time.

"You can work on the assumption that I'm going to be at Geelong for at least the next few years."

Scott is currently contracted to the end of the 2015 AFL season, with his extension likely to be two years.

"The plan is the end of 2017," Scott said.

Geelong will head to the top of the AFL ladder if they defeat Carlton on Friday night.

While the Cats have won 12 straight against the the Blues at Etihad Stadium, Scott said the Blues were one of the form teams of the competition.

"Their midfield is in exceptional form... and their key forwards have been in really strong form as well," he said.

"Jarrad Waite has certainly found something.

"When you combine really good midfield depth and quality and good ball use inside 50 to strong marking forwards, that's a pretty good combination."

Scott saluted the decision of Chris Judd to continue playing on into 2015.

"He's an absolute champion isn't he... one of the genuine greats of our era," he said.

"I think it's good for footy when champions keep playing."
