New research has found a rise in sea levels is likely to reduce nesting habitats for coastal turtle species.
Sea turtles breed in low-lying coastal areas, where they are vulnerable to high tides until hatching.
The research has looked at the largest nesting rookery at Raine Island off the Queensland coast where turtle egg numbers are dwindling.
Researcher Dr David Pike from James Cook University told Peggy Giakoumelos why his team chose Raine Island.
