Ferry operator SeaLink Travel Group, which owns Captain Cook Cruises, has acquired another vessel to boost its operations in Sydney Harbour.

The 24-metre Freedom Sovereign, which is being modified to lift its passenger capacity to 250, from 200, cost $3.06 million.

SeaLink's Sydney fleet will comprise 14 vessels when two other vessels being built in Hobart are delivered to Sydney in May and June this year.

The company, which listed on the Australian Securities Exchange in October 2013, said it was increasing its investment in its fleet and tourism at a time when Australia was experiencing strong growth in international visitors.

Adelaide-based SeaLink operates across NSW, Queensland, the Northern Territory and South Australia.

Shares in SeaLink were seven cents higher at $1.60 at 1234 AEDT.
