Search continues for escaped NSW prisoner

A NSW prisoner has been on the loose for two days after escaping from a jail in the state's Hunter region.

The search continues for a prisoner who escaped from a jail in the NSW Hunter region.

Myles Fergus Wilson was last seen at the St Heliers Correctional Centre in Muswellbrook on Friday afternoon, with authorities scouring the surrounding area but failing to find the 58-year-old.

It's understood he was in jail for minor offences.

Wilson is of Caucasian appearance, about 170cm tall, slim, with light coloured hair, and was wearing a green high-visibility shirt and green tracksuit pants when last seen.
