The search for a fisherman who fell from rocks and was sucked into a notoriously dangerous sea cave on the NSW Central Coast has entered its third day.

The 60-year-old man was fishing with two other people when he fell into the water at Timber Beach, south of Caves Beach, about 10.30am on Sunday.

A multi-agency search - involving water police, divers, PolAir, marine rescue, surf life savers, and the Westpac rescue helicopter - was immediately launched but authorities are yet to find him.

NSW Police believe he was wearing a life jacket.

The search resumed about 7am on Tuesday after operations were suspended on Monday evening.
