Search for hiker in NSW Snowy Mountains

An air and land search has been launched for a missing hiker in the NSW Snowy Mountains.

A hiker who called his friend to say he was lost has gone missing near Thredbo in the NSW Snowy Mountains.

An air and land search was sparked after the 43-year-old man called his friend about 6am on Monday.

He had set out about 1am to walk from Dead Horse Gap near Thredbo to Ramshead Range, police say.
