Police are trying to track an early morning dog walker who may unknowingly have evidence linked to the murder of a man whose body was found at a Melbourne beach.

Three people have been charged over the murder of Jason Edward Stone, 27, whose body was found on a walking track near the Rickett's Point foreshore at Beaumaris on November 11.

Investigators want to speak to a man who was walking two dogs along the water's edge at Rickett's Point at first light on November 8, and spoke to two fully clothed men who were in the water.

Police say they do not have a physical description of the man or his dogs, but hope the appeal will jog someone's memory.
