More than 100 volunteers will return to flood-ravaged Forbes in central west NSW for a third day to resume looking for a missing man.

The 49-year-old was last seen at 12.30pm on Friday at a lake near Burcher, southwest of Forbes, where his car and boat trailer, but no boat, were found.

More than 100 volunteers and emergency services personnel spent Saturday and Sunday searching for him, and plan to resume their efforts on Monday.

The search comes as families in nearby Condobolin and Willow Bend, near Jemalong, have been told to leave their homes because of the risk posed by the rising waters.

The search will resume again about 7am on Monday.
