A second national broadband network satellite will blast off into space this week, connecting hundreds of thousands of Australians in regional areas to the internet.

The faces of 700 Australians will be featured on the rocket when Sky Muster II launches on Wednesday from the French Guiana Space Centre in South America.

Working with the first Sky Muster satellite launched in October last year, it will help 240,000 Australians connect to the internet.
