Police have charged a second person over the alleged gang rape of a 14-year-old girl in Sydney's west last month.

The girl told police she was in a Doonside park on the night of February 8 when a man forced her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.

A number of the man's friends then allegedly took turns in the assault that lasted half an hour.

A 16-year-old boy who went to a Sydney police station a week later was charged with aggravated sexual assault.

An 18-year-old man was arrested at a Doonside address about 6.15pm (AEDT) on Friday, police said.

He was charged with aggravated sexual assault and refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.

The arrest comes after police released CCTV images of three men wanted over the attack.

The incident sparked reprisal fears and calls for calm from African and Pacific Islander community leaders, and police who took part in a unity walk through Blacktown.

The victim is a Pacific Islander, while all the alleged offenders have been described as African in appearance.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
