The Billabong Pro in Tahiti has been put on hold for a second successive day.

Organisers will convene on Friday morning (early Saturday AEST) to next assess conditions, which are predicted to improve in the coming days.

"Nothing really came together today," said ASP commissioner Kieren Perrow.

"There's a lot of lump and bump in the ocean still so we won't be running any heats today.

"Things are shaping up amazingly for the last few days of the waiting period and if that holds true we're going to have a really great finish to the event in solid double-overhead surf."

The competition is the seventh stop on the 2014 World Championship Tour.
