Security probe after plane scare: minister

Federal Transport Minister Darren Chester says security procedures will be reviewed after a man claimed to have explosives on a Malaysia Airlines flight.

Airport security will be reviewed after a man threatened to blow up a Malaysia Airlines flight from Melbourne, the federal government has confirmed.

Transport Minister Darren Chester says the advice from police is the incident after take-off later on Wednesday night does not appear to be terrorism-related.

"By all early accounts, the security parameters worked, but that doesn't change the fact it would have been a very worrying time for the passengers and crew on board," Mr Chester told ABC TV on Thursday.
