The belief gained from St Kilda's stunning come-from-behind win against the Western Bulldogs three weeks ago was the catalyst for the Saints' latest comeback victory.
Alan Richardson's side overcame a 55-point deficit against the Bulldogs to score a famous win at Etihad Stadium and the belief that grew from that was called upon at the Gabba on Sunday after a rampant Brisbane bolted to a 28-point lead at quarter-time.
"Adam Schneider had a chat to the guys and said that we've been here before and we can come back from this," St Kilda midfielder Jack Newnes said on Monday.
"We've got a heap of belief - the comebacks we've had in a couple of games this year have been good for our group to build on.
"We know now that if a team gets a run on ... that we're still in the game and that we can come back from those deficits."
The 22-point win over the Lions improved the Saints's record to 3-6 and moved them into 14th spot on the ladder.
They face a tough task to maintain that push up the order on Sunday when they host reigning premiers Hawthorn at Etihad Stadium.
While the self-belief is growing amongst the playing group, Newnes said it was important that the Saints continued to work at making it harder for opposition sides to steal a march on them for periods in games.
"We haven't really put four good quarters together yet," he said.
"So that's an aim for us to build that consistency and (do that). That's what we're looking forward to this week and for the rest of the season."
