Labor has won upper house support to set up an inquiry into Australia's proposed free trade agreement with China.

Australia's proposed free trade agreement with China will be investigated by a parliamentary committee.

The Senate inquiry will look into the agreement's impact on Australia's economy and trade, domestic labour market, investment and cultural policies.

The Labor-initiated inquiry will also review the agreement to ensure it's in Australia's national interest.
