The Seven Network has thrown its financial backing behind Russell Crowe's post-Gallipoli movie The Water Diviner.
Seven's ceo Tim Worner says Seven West Media and Seven Group Holdings have both invested in the movie which has already been cast and is due for release later this year.
Crowe makes his directorial debut and also stars in the movie about an Australian farmer who heads to Turkey after the war to find his three sons.
Bond girl Olga Kurylenko plays the farmer's Turkish love interest.
The supporting cast includes Australian actors Ryan Corr, Jai Courtney, Steve Bastoni, Isabel Lucas and Dan Wyllie.
"This project is a special one for Seven," Worner said in a statement.
"It was our view that it was one of best scripts for an Australian film we had ever read.
"It is an incredibly moving tale and while not giving too much away we felt its production as a major movie is just the most powerful way of conveying to all Australians the special place that Gallipoli has in our past."
It's being executive produced by media mogul James Packer and Hollywood director Brett Ratner, under their RatPac Entertainment label.
