The Seven Network has dropped court proceedings over Adam Boland's new tell-all memoir after finding "nothing in it" that breached confidentiality agreements.

Seven instigated legal action last week, demanding an early copy of Brekky Central amid fears Boland may air dirty laundry after his controversial defection to Network Ten early last year.

But on Thursday the network said it is no longer concerned about confidentiality issues, and had discontinued proceedings.

"Seven was successful in obtaining court orders to prevent further sales until we read the book to check there was no breach of confidentiality, and now that we have read it we have found there is nothing in it so have decided not to continue with further legal proceedings," Seven said in a statement.

"Adam Boland has agreed with Seven to discontinue the proceedings with no order as to costs."

Melbourne University Press rush released the memoir on Wednesday, in defiance of the legal threats.

Billed as "the book that Channel Seven tried to stop", it can already be bought as an e-book, with hard copies expected to arrive in stores on Friday.

On Wednesday, MUP slammed Seven's attempts to stop the book reaching readers.

"We don't yield to pressure from commercial operators with deep pockets and a heightened sensitivity to stories about their own industry while intruding into the lives of private citizens with breathtaking insouciance," chief executive Louise Adler said in a statement.

Boland, who left Ten and the industry entirely in January, said he thought Seven's legal action was based on "a little bit of paranoia".

"Breakfast shows are worth a lot of money to the networks, they are worried that there could be stuff in the book that undermines their product," he said.

"But there's not. I wrote the book essentially to work out why so many people hate me. It was cathartic for me."
