Bushfire warnings in place in southern states

Fire crews are preparing for a high fire danger day in parts of Western Australia.

A severe fire danger rating has been forecast for coastal areas in the shires of Carnarvon and Shark Bay on Sunday.

The warning comes as crews extinguished a blaze south of Perth.

The fire at Atwell in the City of Cockburn that started at about 3pm (WST) on Saturday has been put out.
