Severe weather closes 100 NSW schools

More than 100 schools in NSW have been closed with severe weather lashing the state.

More than 100 NSW schools have been closed as wild weather continues to lash the state.

The Department of Education and Communities says more than 100 primary and secondary schools, mainly in the hard-hit Hunter region, have temporarily closed.

Some Sydney metropolitan and Illawarra schools are also affected.

The TAFE Hunter Institute has also been closed, as well as the University of Newcastle.
