Sex charges for Sydney child abductor

A jailed child abductor has been charged with multiple sexual and indecent assault offences against girls in Sydney parks and reserves.

A convicted child abductor who police have previously described as a "serial predator" has been charged with a series of shocking sexual assaults on young girls in Sydney parks and reserves.

Mark Hanson has had 18 fresh charges laid against him relating to offences against six girls between 2007 and 2011.

Already in jail over other offences, the 50-year-old Sydney father didn't make an appearance in Parramatta Local Court on Thursday.

The new charges were briefly mentioned by his lawyer and the case was adjourned to February 6.

The alleged offences include the gunpoint abduction and indecent assault of two girls, aged nine and 10, at Auluba Reserve, South Turramurra, on December 2, 2011.

They also include the sexual assault of two eight-year-old girls in the Fred Caterson Recreation Reserve at Castle Hill on August 30, 2007 and the indecent and sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl on a bush track off Hall Street, South Turramurra, on December 4, 2007.

The other alleged offences are the abduction and assault of a nine-year-old girl in bushland near Holland Reserve Oval, Glenhaven, on November 3, 2009.

The 18 charges include sexual intercourse with a child under 10, aggravated sexual assault, indecent assault, assault with act of indecency, kidnapping, armed with intent to commit indictable offence and offences relating to the production of child abuse material.

Earlier this year, Hanson pleaded guilty to grabbing a six-year-old girl and threatening to violently rape a 14-year-old girl during failed kidnappings.

Hanson also tried to snatch a six-year-old girl from her babysitter at netball courts in South Turramurra in February 2012.

He pleaded guilty to six charges.

The court documents at the time showed that police believed "the accused is a serial predator who, if not located, would commit further offences".
