Sexpo under fire for rape joke gaffe

Adult entertainment exhibition Sexpo has come under fire on social media after making an insensitive rape joke in a Twitter post.

The offending tweet was quickly deleted from Sexpo's Twitter account.

The Tweet from the official Sexpo Twitter account was made yesterday and said "Surprise sex is the best thing to wake up to. Unless you are in prison."

The adult entertainment exhibition takes place annually in major Australian cities and describes itself as the biggest show of its kind.

Twitter users reacted swiftly to the tweet; condemning the post for making a joke out of rape.

 

The Tweet was deleted shortly after it provoked the backlash.
