New Zealand's South Island has been struck by three widely felt earthquakes.
The strongest, which hit late on Monday night, was a magnitude-five tremor, and was also felt in the lower North Island.
Another struck within 10 minutes, and then a third just over an hour later.
The Fire Service says it received no reports of damage from any of the shakes.
