Second seed Maria Sharapova is on guard for a double-handed assault from China's Peng Shuai when they meet in the Australian Open fourth round.
Sharapova got her title hopes back on track with a crushing third round win over Kazakhstani 31st seed Zarina Diyas 6-1 6-1 on Friday night at Rod Laver Arena.
She needed just a minute over an hour to outgun Diyas, with her aggression and movement around the court a highlight.
After dodging a bullet by saving two match points in her second round clash with little-known Russian compatriot Alexandra Panova, the world No.2 was ready for an attack from 21st seed Peng.
The Chinese No.1 was bundled out in the first round at Melbourne Park last year but her form improved through the year to culminate in a semi-final berth at the US Open.
The power-packed Peng plays two-handed on both sides, in the same manner as former great Monica Seles.
"That's a little tricky but I enjoy playing against her," Sharapova said.
"She hits the ball quite flat as well, and deep and you just really have to be ready for those shots to always come back.
"She's always a tough player to play against because she's really solid."
Sharapova said with Seles her idol she too tried a two-handed forehand early in her career but gave it up for a good reason.
"I had a pretty good right-handed forehand as well."
