Sharks to wait until Thursday on injuries

Cronulla will make a final call on the fitness of Sam Tagataese and Joesph Paulo for Sunday's NRL grand final against Melbourne.

Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan will wait until Thursday afternoon before making a call on injured duo Sam Tagataese and Joseph Paulo.

Both forwards are expected to be named on an extended bench on Tuesday, before Flanagan makes a call after Thursday's training session on the exact make-up of his side for Sunday's NRL grand final against Melbourne at ANZ Stadium.

Paulo (knee), hasn't played since round 26 against the Storm, while Tagataese (shoulder), is believed to be slightly ahead of him in recovery after not playing since round 22.

Both will train on Tuesday, before a rest day on Wednesday and another session on Thursday after which Flanagan will make a call.

"I won't muck around and have people asking whether they are in or out," Flanagan told News Corp Australia.

Sharks captain Paul Gallen called for the club to return Tagataese to the team immediately if he's available.

"If he's fit to go, I think we've got to play another 110-115kg body," he told Sky Sports Radio's Big Sports Breakfast.

"He's powerful and when you look at our side we only need him for 20 minutes.

"If he can come on and cause some damage for 20 minutes I'd certainly play him."
