Prop Aaron Woods' 2018 rags to riches story continues as the mid-season recruit eyes an end to his NRL finals woes.
Out of favour with NSW State of Origin selectors this year, Woods has won all three of his matches with the Sharks since his high-profile switch from strugglers Canterbury due to salary cap issues.
Woods last played in a semi-final as a West Tigers youngster in 2011 and is excited at the prospect of breaking his seven-year finals drought.
"To be a part of that again is something I'm really looking forward to. It was an awesome feeling," the 27-year-old told Big Sport Breakfast on Wednesday.
"It's something that I really enjoy and (I'll) take it with both hands."
The Sharks sit fifth before Thursday night's clash with seventh-placed Brisbane.
Woods said a victory at Suncorp Stadum would go a long way to Cronulla cementing a finals spot.
"It gives you a little bit of a gap (if we) hopefully get this win," he said.
"Every win now is very crucial for the next seven weeks."
After linking up with his third team in less than a year Woods said he is still finding his feet at Southern Cross Group Stadium but has found the move invigorating.
"It's always good when you win," he said.
"You don't really question yourself as much ... you're not as sore after a win just because you've got that winning feeling.
"It's been good for myself and my family."
Despite the Sharks developing a habit for poor halves, Woods said the club's leaders were key to toughing out close wins.
"Sometimes, you know, when I've been at the Tigers we just tried to go for that miracle pass instead of just playing the percentage plays," he said.
"They've (the Sharks) been in those situations many times before and they know how to handle themselves."
