Bill Shorten has paid tribute to those working, travelling and coming together with their families this Easter.

In a brief video message released on Sunday, the opposition leader joined with wife Chloe and daughter Clementine to offer their Easter wishes.

"We wish you and your loved ones all the best this Easter," Mr Shorten said in the 40-second clip.

"For many, Easter is a time that carries deep meaning. It is a time for worship, for reflection, and a special opportunity for families to come together."

Chloe thanked those offering a helping hand to others less fortunate - not just at Easter, but every day of the year.

"As we count our blessings, we also think of people who are doing it tough, and give thanks for all the organisations and charities who lend a helping hand," she said.

Mr Shorten praised those working over the long weekend, and urged people out on the roads to drive safely and take regular breaks, before the trio joined together to voice one final message.

"From our family to yours, happy Easter."

Mr Shorten and Prime Minister Scott Morrison have agreed to halt their federal election campaigns out of respect for the holy day.

He is expected to attend church in Brisbane, before Labor's campaign throughout Queensland kicks into gear.
