Should petrol be taken out of a carbon tax?

Independent MP Rob Oakeshott has called for petrol to be excluded from the Gillard government's carbon tax. Under Labor's original carbon pollution reduction scheme, fuel price rises were to be cancelled out by petrol excise cuts. What do you think?
