Show us more details on pensions: Shorten

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten says Labor needs to see more details on the government's aged pension changes, but he's criticised cuts to the part-pension.

Federal Labor wants to see more detail before it decides to back planned government changes to the aged pension.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten believes 320,000 part-pensioners have discovered they are the next "victims" of the budget under a plan to adjust assets test thresholds and increase the tapering rate.

"When it comes to a beauty parade in politics between part-pensioners and a few multi-millionaires who are getting tax concessions from their superannuation ... why is it that Tony Abbott will always back the very, very, very well off," he told reporters in Melbourne on Thursday.
