WHAT THEY SAID: THE LAWYERS WHO DEALT WITH SYDNEY SIEGE GUNMAN MAN HARON MONIS.

"There was no depth to him and he didn't strike me as very intelligent."

"His later lawyer that I spoke to said he considered him a dickhead."

"He's on television - nothing else mattered."

- Lawyer Chris Murphy, who represented Monis for one day in 2009 when he appeared in court for sending offensive letters to the families of Australian soldiers killed overseas.

"He told me on many occasions that he loved Australia and he loved the Australian people. He believed the Australian government was a puppet of the American government."

"He said he never intended to cause offence."

- Lawyer Manny Conditsis, who represented Monis when he pleaded guilty to sending offensive letters in 2013.

"My initial opinion of Man Monis was very impressive. He was well dressed as an Islamic cleric."

"During my legal representation in the matter I found Mr Monis to be a smart guy, but a very evil smart guy."

- Lawyer Dr Nazir Daawar, who represented Monis in 2010.

"You have probably come to the wrong lawyer."

"Get out of my office."

- What Dr Daawar said to an enraged Monis when he refused to plead guilty in 2010.
