Silent protests held globally in support of Greste, colleagues

Media organisations around the world are continuing to show their support for Australian journalist Peter Greste.

Journalists around the world have held simultaneous protests in London, Nairobi, Jerusalem and Baghdad among others, demanding that Peter Greste and his two colleagues are released.

Yesterday, Greste and his Egyptian- Canadian colleague Mohammad Fahmy were sentenced to seven years in an Egyptian prison.

Producer Bahar Mohammad was given 10 years.

SBS journalist, Ryan Emery, who's in London, spoke to Zara Zaher about the hundreds of BBC journalists who held a vigil in one of a number around the world.



Journalists took to social media to show their support for the three jailed journalists, who have been in an Egyptian prison for almost six months.
