Hull, currently 17th in the league, have an opportunity to go five points clear of relegation zone this weekend when they play David Moyes' side who are set for Championship football next season.

"What division Sunderland play in next season is not important," Silva said in a news conference on Thursday. "We will respect them, because it will be a really difficult game.

"It will be a big mistake if anyone thinks this will be an easy game for us. We will do our best to get the three points.

"For me nothing changes in my work and how I prepare, but we never lose our focus. All of us have one goal.

Marco Silva has overseen a dramatic upturn in Hull's home form since he replaced Mike Phelan in January, with the East Yorkshire club going on a eight-game unbeaten run.

"Our home form gives confidence to our players, but this is a new game," the Portuguese boss added.

"Goal difference is important so we need a clean sheet and we try to score as many goals as possible, but if we win 1-0 it's still good to us."
