Silver for Kernaghan men's singles bowls

New Zealander Mike Kernaghan has been beaten by Australian Aron Sherriff 21-12 in the Asia Pacific men's singles bowls final in Christchurch.

New Zealand's Mike Kernaghan has had to settle for silver after losing to Australian Aron Sherriff in the men's singles final at the Asia Pacific bowls championship.

Sherriff led from the start and was never headed as he completed a 21-12 win in Christchurch on Saturday.

New Zealand have another gold medal opportunity on Sunday when Mike Nagy, Andrew Kelly, Shannon McIlroy and Paul Girdler face Australia in the men's fours final.

Nagy, Kelly and Girdler have already claimed one title, having won the men's triples on Friday.
