Simmons set for crucial Arkansas clash

Dogged by academic issues and losses, Ben Simmons needs to lead LSU to a win over lowly-rated Arkansas.

Australian prodigy Ben Simmons faces the most crucial game of his US college basketball life when his tattered Louisiana State University squad travels to Arkansas.

Pressure is on Simmons, who was benched for academic issues in the opening minutes of a disastrous loss to Tennessee on the weekend, to lead LSU to a win against Arkansas (11am Wednesday AEDT) and keep the team's fading hopes alive of an invite to the end-of-season NCAA Tournament.

LSU's prospects were dealt another blow when inspirational guard Keith Hornsby, the team's second-leading scorer behind Simmons, suffered a hernia injury and was ruled out of the Arkansas game and possibly the rest of the season.
