Simpson keen to stick with Eagles in AFL

West Coast coach Adam Simpson says he's happy at the Eagles and has no intention of leaving the club.

Here's a message for North Melbourne - don't even bother calling Adam Simpson about the vacant coaching position.

Simpson is a legend at North Melbourne, having won two flags and also skippered the club during his decorated 306-game career there.

The 43-year-old has since carved out a successful coaching career at West Coast, guiding the Eagles to last year's flag.

He is contracted to West Coast until the end of 2022.

But Brad Scott's sudden departure from North Melbourne has sparked talk the Kangaroos should try to lure Simpson their way.

Simpson was quick to rule out that prospect.

"I'm contracted and I'm really happy with where I am," Simpson told channel 7.

"I'm at the start of a four-year contract, we've just come off a premiership, so I'm happy with where I'm at.

"I think they (North Melbourne) know where I stand with it all. So it will be old news pretty quickly for me."

Sydney's John Longmire and Hawthorn's Alastair Clarkson are two other experienced coaches who have been linked to the Kangaroos role, but it would be a big shock if either of them switched allegiances.

West Coast have recovered from an early-season slump to move to 7-3, and they'll be aiming for their fifth win on the trot when they take on the Western Bulldogs in Perth on Sunday.

The Eagles overcame a 33-point deficit to beat the Crows by 12 points in Adelaide on Saturday.

Simpson was proud of his team's fighting spirit.

"It's probably built up over five or six years," Simpson said.

"Our players now understand what it takes to dig deep and find that resilience.

"They've done it before, which is always a good sign for when we're in that position again.

"That inner belief is really hard to teach."
