Newcastle forward Korbin Sims will challenge the grading of his high tackle charge from the Pacific Test at the NRL judiciary in a bid to play this weekend.
Sims will dispute the grade two careless charge at a hearing on Wednesday night to try and avoid a one-week ban which would keep him out of Sunday's clash with Penrith in Newcastle.
The Fijian firebrand ironed out Samoan halfback Penani Manumalealii in the 49th minute of the match, but will argue that the smaller man was falling in the tackle when the contact was made.
Sims will hope to convince the panel that the tackle was a grade one offence, meaning he would be available for selection.
The 22-year-old has nothing to lose by pleading guilty and challenging the grading, with one week the maximum amount of time he can miss.
Meanwhile, Samoan forward Sam Tagataese has taken the early guilty plea for his headbutt to Fijian prop Kane Evans, and will miss Cronulla's Monday night match against Parramatta.
