She may have finally emerged from her famous sister's shadow but breakthrough swimming star Bronte Campbell insists her fallen sibling remains on the top of her "hit list".
Bronte Campbell became just the third person in history to complete the world titles sprint double by claiming 50m freestyle gold in Russia on Sunday night.
It marked the second time she had left her older sister in her wake at the Kazan world titles after snapping defending champion Cate Campbell's unbeaten run since late 2012 in the 100m final.
However, Bronte Campbell insisted her sister remained the gauge ahead of the Rio Olympics despite Cate battling to regain her best form following shoulder surgery last August.
Years ago the super competitive Bronte Campbell drew up a "hit list" of rivals who had beaten her - with her sibling at the top.
But she refused to scratch her sister off it in Kazan despite making the world titles her own by claiming three gold and a bronze.
"That list is still around. I'm still not going to throw that one away," she said.
"It's going to be very different for me (ahead of Rio).
"I've always been the one chasing Cate and now she's going to be chasing me.
"(But) her best times are still faster than mine so she obviously has more to give."
Bronte Campbell claimed her rare double by clocking personal best times in the 50m (24.12) and 100m (52.52) finals.
However, flatmate Cate Campbell is still the benchmark in their household in both events - 23.99 (50m) and 52.33 (100m).
Bronte Campbell did not have to be told her sister was below her best at Kazan as she battled back to full fitness.
Cate Campbell managed only 100m bronze and a 50m fourth placing in her individual events at Kazan.
"It's been a really, really rough meet for her," Bronte Campbell said of her sister.
"Coming back as defending champion is really, really hard, especially after all she's been through with her shoulder surgery.
"It's been really hard to watch but she's handled it really well and she's been really supportive of me."
Cate Campbell tried to remain upbeat after her underwhelming Kazan campaign.
"I will be celebrating Bronte's fantastic meet with a few lollies but for me it's back to the drawing board," she said.
"But there was some doubt in there (because of the shoulder operation).
"I guess time will tell (at Rio) if I did the right thing in having the surgery.
"But it is definitely about next year."
