The Sydney Roosters have not ruled out Shaun Kenny-Dowall returning to the field this NRL season despite the premiership-winner being readmitted to hospital for mental support.
The 27-year-old winger is on leave with the club to seek counselling after being accused of ten domestic violence charges following the end of his relationship with Jessica Peris.
Kenny-Dowall is facing an uncertain future after missing the last four matches because of his state of mind.
He returned to training last week but was a late withdrawal from the team that defeated Newcastle at Hunter Stadium on Sunday.
He has not trained this week and is back in the care of counsellors as he deals with on-going issues.
While the premiership winner has not been named to take on Parramatta on Saturday, Roosters chief executive Brian Canavan said he could be available as early as next week.
"He's a great athlete and he's got plenty in the bank so when he's ready to roll he'll only have to train two sessions and he'll be right," Canavan said.
"Physically he'll be right."
Canavan said it was difficult to predict when he would return.
"He's having some on-going treatment and it's one of those things that's day-by-day and week-by-week," Canavan said.
"We just don't know.
