Lindsey Vonn has bowed out from downhill skiing with a bronze medal with Slovenia's Ilka Stuhec grabbing gold at the alpine ski world championships.
Stuhec posted 1min 01.74sec on a course shortened by 566 metres because of wind to beat Switzerland's Corinne Suter by 0.23 seconds. It was a second medal for Suter following bronze in the super-G.
Vonn was 0.49 seconds off Stuhec for bronze.
Like Aksel Lund Svindal, the downhill silver medallist the previous day, Vonn retires with a major medal.
At 34 she becomes the oldest women's medallist at world championships, and she joins Norwegians Svindal and Kjetil Andre Aamodt, and Marc Girardelli of Luxembourg, as the only skiers to collect a medal at six worlds.
Vonn, who has fallen four victories short of Ingemar Stenmark's record of 86 World Cup wins was presented by a bouquet of flowers by the Swedish great after she finished her run.
