Small business yet to get lift from budget

Small business conditions have yet to get a lift from the Abbott government's second budget despite it offering these firms a spread of tax concessions.

The impact of a small business-orientated budget hasn't had the immediate impact the federal government might have been hoped.

The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry small business survey for the June quarter, released on Monday, shows conditions remain negative albeit moderating in their declines in most areas.

Its small business conditions index fell for the fourth consecutive quarter to 41.3 from 42.7 points - below the crucial 50 point mark - while views on the expected economic performance for the next 12 months eased to 46.3 from 47.6 per cents.
