Aussie skipper Steve Smith is suffering knee pain and a hip strain and won't play Big Bash League for the Sydney Sixers before Christmas.

The captain insists he's in "no doubt" for the Boxing Day Test, the second in the series against the West Indies, in which the Aussies are one up after a convincing innings and 212-run win in Hobart.

Test players available for BBL are Joe Burns, Adam Voges, Peter Nevill, Nathan Lyon and Nathan Coulter-Nile.
