Smoking banned in Sydney's Martin Place

The city of Sydney is taking a new path in the fight against smoking, enacting a total ban in one of its main open areas in the city centre.

Martin Place is a pedestrian mall surrounded by heritage buildings that has been closed to traffic in stages over the past four decades.

City councillor Jenny Green talked with Ron Sutton with the latest move, to close it to smoking.
