Snake bites Nicki Minaj's dancer

Rapper Nicki Minaj's rehearsal of her new single Anaconda for the MTV awards has landed one of her dancers in hospital - with a snake bite.

One of Nicki Minaj's backing dancers has reportedly been bitten by a snake during rehearsals for the MTV Video Music Awards.

The American rapper is scheduled to perform her new single Anaconda at the awards ceremony on Sunday.

Rehearsing for the live show during the week, Minaj and her dancers were on stage with a 1.8 metre snake when it slithered up to a female performer and sunk its fangs into her, according to TMZ.com.

The dancer was taken to a Los Angeles hospital for treatment.

It's not known if the animal will still be used in the performance.

Taylor Swift, Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora will also perform at the ceremony at The Forum in Los Angeles.
