Snapshot for day 2 of the fourth Test

South Africa are on track to record a crushing victory in the four-Test series finale.

AUSTRALIA v SOUTH AFRICA, DAY 2

* SCORE: South Africa 488, Australia 6-110

* MAN OF THE MOMENT: Temba Bavuma. It may not have been a century, with the pint-sized batsman stranded on 95 not out, but his knock hammered home the hosts' advantage.

* KEY MOMENT: Retiring beanpole Morne Morkel was given a guard of honour when he strolled out to bat, yet another nice gesture from new skipper Tim Paine.

* STAT OF THE DAY: Every batsman in Australia's top six has been dropped by national selectors at some point in the past year and a half.

* SUMMARY: South Africa will soon be mulling whether to enforce the follow-on. If they do and forecast rain stays away then this game could potentially be over on day three, with Australia facing the prospect of another heavy defeat.

* QUOTE OF THE DAY: "It's been tough. Especially those couple of days after Cape Town ... it was a bit weird not seeing Davey and Smithy and Bangers out there" - PAT CUMMINS admits the absence of suspended trio Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft has been hard to miss.
