DAY THREE OF THE FIFTH ASHES TEST BETWEEN AUSTRALIA AND ENGLAND
Score: Australia 481, England 149 and 6-203
Man of the moment: Peter Siddle. The man Shane Warne didn't want playing was again a key factor for Australia, applying pressure and taking wickets. Siddle has bowled 10 maidens in England's second innings - something which has been sorely missed from Australia all series.
Key moment: Steve Smith's dismissal of Alastair Cook (85) in the twilight of the day ended a brilliant innings by the England captain who was intent on forcing a draw, and removed the last major hurdle of an Australian victory.
Stat of the day: 34. Siddle bowled 34 consecutive dot balls before conceding a run with the penultimate ball of his opening spell.
Summary: Australia have managed to save some face after a dismal tour, with another successful day left them on the verge of victory. England started the day batting - and finished it batting, but lost eight wickets, and were forced to follow on, in between. Alastair Cook batting for five-and-a-half hours for his 85 before being dismissed just before stumps, leaving England requiring 129 to make Australia bat again - with just four wickets to spare.
Quote of the day: "Six wickets at the end of the day ... it turned out to be a pretty good one for us," Peter Siddle reflects on the decision to enforce the follow on.
